This is the song we should have been singing while we made these yummmmmmm-o coconut crisp cookies today. Instead I force my kids to listen to Bon Jovi, Keep the Faith:D
These cookies turned out great the kids loved them.
Here are two of my monkeys waiting for the coconut crisp cookies to be ready. I found the recipe in an old Rachael Ray magazine, please don't ask me which one because I went through 2 years worth of magazines today...I searched her website and could not find them, if you want the recipe let me know and I will pass it along.They were super easy and super fast, just what I like. I am thinking about making these for the Christmas cookie exchange next year but dressing them up a little with drizzled chocolate and other wonderfulness.


Oh and before you ask, these are NOT low carb cookies and no they are not good for my diet. But I can't deny my children the pleasure of making cookies with their mom no matter how big my arse is....

Jackie-Oh how I Love thee....

Well it has become pretty darn cold here in London, ON the past couple days, but that did not stop me from wearing my new wonderful spring jacket! I love it ever so much and when I put it on it reminds me of warm spring days and Cadbury mini eggs! What is your favourite mini egg colour? I enjoy the ones that crackle when you put them in your mouth.

Back to my coat....I bought it from a friend of mine for a great deal, in my opinion and it fits almost perfect. It is full of ruffly goodness and is bright white, but I love white so much I just had to have it . Are you dying to see it? I don't have a photo of me wearing it because I have yet to master the art of self portraits. I mean don't I look fantastic in this photo that I took myself;)

Craft room makeover part 1

Remember that mess of fabric I posted a few days ago? I bet you were all so concerned about where I was going to put it all right? ha! Well I had my hubby install some floor to ceiling,wall to wall shelving to house it all. My only problem I had once I put all the folded yardage up there, was that it was not uniform! The only solution to this problem was to ditch all the fabric I have and buy new stuff in colours that coordinated with my room!.....NOT(did I just say NOT? soooooo 90's)

I decided to make some curtains to cover the wall and hide all the fabric, but still making it accessible when I feel the urge to create. Previously I had my stash in old dresser drawers, cupboards and the odd shelf, it was very hard to see what I had on hand. I would tend to buy more instead of using what was already there. Now I can pull the curtains over and see EVERY wonderful piece of fabricy goodness, my goal for 2010 is to use up 1/3 of my stash. Stay tuned to find out what I create with it all:)


I made these curtains with three bands of fabric because that is what appealed to me most, they seemed a little bland with just the white on the top so I decided to sew some appliqued flowers on to spice it up a little. I also put orange and purple buttons in the centre of the flowers, I used the glue gun for this because I enjoy using a glue gun more than anything in the world(well maybe not anything but it is tops on my list of fun things) The bottom tier of the curtains is actually purple for some reason it shows up blue, could be the fact that I have not learned how to properly use my camera or edit them...but that is a whole other post.

Black white and Lace all over...

I am in the process of revamping my blah IKEA sofa, I made new slip covers and now comes the fun part! dressing it up with fantastical toss cushions. The 'tuxedo' pillow is one of 3 different ones I plan to toss on the sofa or should I say chesterfield. Do people still say chesterfield? I think it is time we bring chesterfield back, don't you think?



To make this pillow I used the liner from the faux fur coat I used to make my fabulous throw as the ruffles. Cut three 2" strips 1.5x the size of your finished pillow size, then ruffle them up using the widest stitch and loosest tension on your sewing machine. I should ruffle up just the right amount with no need to adjust.

Next cut out your base fabric the size you need( I used a white cotton twill for the front and black jersey for the back side) and pin the lace pieces in place and stitch them down with a straight stitch.Then pin the ruffles in place and secure them to the pillow front.


Next you will want to add a zipper, I am new to the whole zipper thing so I don't want to explain it for fear of messing you all up. What I can tell you is you NEED to put on your zipper foot:) there are tons of great zipper installation tutorials online too. Once you have installed the zipper sew front and back sides together, right sides together, clip corners and flip and stuff:) You could also forgo the zipper all together and just stuff the pillow and slip stitch the pillow closed. I like having the zipper because with three little girls things need to be washed here quite often.

Who is this man that stole my husband?

He is sexy and mysterious, he is a serial killer? That's right I have lost my husband to Micheal C. Hall a.k.a. Dexter:S




I cannot say that I watch the show, I just can't handle sitting watching TV for an hour when I could be creating something in my new sewing room(the exception is American Idol and LOST). I was silly enough to buy my husband Dexter season 1 for Christmas, he watched the whole season in two days, I kid you not. Ever since he has been on a mission to get season 2,3 and 4... I seriously haven't seen him in a week, I can't wait until he comes back to me.

I miss you sweetie<3>

Not sure if you watched the Golden Globes or the SAG awards but Micheal C Hall won for best actor on both occasions. Hubby was gitty like a school girl when he won...hahahaha apparently he was on the show Six Feet Under as well, another show I didn't watch but probably should...Actually I think we have the box set of that show so technically I could watch it but probably wont.

Faux fur coat to FABULOUS throw

I made this Fantastic throw for my 'new' gray sofa out of a big old faux fur coat my mother gave me. This coat had absolutely no style and it had SHOULDER PADS! I know they are coming back in style but I have to say no to this new trend....

I started with the ugly coat of course, used my trusty seam ripper to take out the lining(which I will use later:))


After you rip the liner out it should look something like this...I left the pockets in because it reminded me somewhat of a snuggie blanket:S



Next you want to cut the top part of the coat off just under the armpits.


Then take both the top and bottom layers of fabric and pin them right sides together. I chose to use a red cabbage roll minky on the reverse side because that is what I had on hand, you could also use a cotton print or pretty much anything you like. Stitch the two pieces of fabric together leaving an 8 inch opening for turning.


Once it is sewn together turn the blanket right side out and slip stitch the hole closed

WOHOOOOOOOOOOO! you now have a super comfy and warm throw to spice up your sofa:)

This is where you work??!??!

I have noticed that a lot of the Bloggers are posting about their craft spaces this month. I have been inspired to make over my dreary office into a place that I enjoy and can spend all my down time creating.
